Do we have an idea what do our dogs do at home when we are at work the whole day? Do we really know what happens inside the house as our pets get to linger and run the house by themselves? Or is there something strange taking place that we are not aware of?
Just like us, our pets also get bored. Being left alone for day inside the house drives them to look for ways that will take up their time; or they might form a habit that they will look forward in doing. This is Bubbles who is a perfect example of a dog seeking something fun to do. Bubbles isn’t really a lonely dog. She has a squeaky toy to play with and gets around unleashed in the house. However, Bubbles has a secret. Besides her toy, she loves getting the mail. Everytime there is mail, Bubbles already knows and she would patiently wait by the door until the stack of envelope arrives. She doesn’t just watch the mail drop by. She is not contented by letting it slip through the door. Bubbles has to catch the mail by her teeth and she likes dropping it on the floor herself. She is so preoccupied by this habit that she seems to forget that she still has a toy on her mouth. Once the mail arrives, she ignores and drops her toy as she scoops today’s mail delivery. She would even bark because of excitement everytime she gets a chance of doing her new duty.
Dogs are efficient creatures. They do not only function to make us swoon over their cuteness and fluffy-ness. These are animals who constantly want something to do. If we are not around to give them orders, they will find themselves things to do. Just like Bubbles who chose the mail to be her daily chore, dogs’ attention would normally focus on something that breaks their habitual regimen. Just like us when we feel like our life is static and unexciting, dogs look forward to surprises and thrills that will make their day – and this is exactly what Bubbles did.
