Shih Tzu personalities are playful, stubborn, quiet, friendly and devoted. All of them may exhibit these attitudes but they will surely show one of these distinct characteristics. Playful Shih Tzu are the ones who never get tired pulling your pants, jumping on your lap, and chasing their tails. These pooches love the outdoors where they can walk and run around. Take note that these types of dogs need an owner who has time to exercise them and take them to the park almost everyday. The stubborn ones, on the other hand are quite difficult top train. Though this is a general Shih Tzu demeanor, dogs that show this behavior need a more focused and patient owner or trainor. Compared to the Border Collie, the Shih Tzu may need 80 to 100 command repetitions before they can actually get the instruction. Furthermore, these dogs can also be quiet and relaxed. History says that they are pets of the Imperial officers in China and they are used to sleeping and chilling around the palace. They are not really sporting nor guard animals, but they can bark once in a while if they see a stranger or another dog. Though generally, the quiet Shih Tzu prefers lying around like His Majesty. The friendly pooches are the outgoing ones. They don’t mind hanging out with a stranger or an owner’s friend. For as long as you show you mean no harm, the pooch will shower you with love and affection. These are the easily trusting ones. A belly rub will always do the trick and will make you immediately bestfriends. Last and not the least is the devoted Shih Tzu. They are bred to make their owners feel special and this is where the devoted Shih Tzu specializes. Also called as the people pleaser, this dog will make sure he greets you when you come home, lick your face and make you feel like you are the best owner in the whole world.
