Shih Tzu on a Treadmill

Even though Shih tzu are very small and they look like they are better off displayed on a shelf like stuffed toys, these animals also need some exercise. They may not be your typical sporting dog that loves the outdoors and exhaustive activities, their heart and muscles must be put to work daily. A fifteen to twenty minute walk daily under a favorable weather is enough for a Shih Tzu work out. But what if it is during the winter and the park is full of ice? Where will you walk your little pooch? This video will show us where and how.

This little pup knows where to spend his extra energy on cold winter days. He may not be able to withstand the extreme cold of the air outside but there is no stopping this pooch when it comes to exercise. All thanks to the treadmill. A dog on treadmill may not be a very interesting thing to see; but when it is a cute fluffy baby Shih tzu, it will surely bring out the giggle in you. This holds true for the owner of this puppy who didn’t stop laughing as he gets amused by her baby. To make things more adorable and to keep this pup on the treadmill, his favorite duck toy was offered to him everytime he would try to slow down and get pulled back by the machine. Surprisingly, the bribe is effective becomes it motivates the Shih Tzu to stay on track and keep on paddling. Take of note of the little sounds that his feet make everytime they touch the treadmill. This furball is such a cutie!

Treadmills can be put to use during winter season to exercise our dogs; however, do not ever leave your dogs – especially pups unattended on a working treadmill. They might trample and get knocked off that might lead to fractures. Also, do not overexecise your Shih Tzu because these dogs can only tolerate a minimum amount of workout. Since they have snort noses and thick hair, they easily get tired. During exercise, make sure to monitor their breath and status to avoid exhaustion and heat stroke.
